This is the first thing I have read of yours and yes it was a long but interesting read! Have you ever read the book MOTHER HUNGER ? You may find it interesting…
Firstly, couldn't help to notice the last name and have to say your father vs. spitfire is embedded in my brain. A man of many accomplishments I'm sure you are proud of, and he of you carving out your own version of Amanda v Spitfire in the crazy world we live.
Glad you found the post interesting and appreciate the recommendation.
I have come across the mother hunger, the mother wound and as you've noticed I've tagged it as the mother gap.
Continues to fascinate me how one of the most important duties of each generation is to bring what was already uncovered in previous generations to the vernacular of the time/community given our human amensia that is characteristic of our short dance on the stage of life.
Gabor Maté was my gateway drug, and you can probably tell with the studies I share, bringing him into the venn diagram of Bessel Van Der Kalk's push to relate trauma/emotional disturbance with real physiological changes. Once 'they' whoever 'they' are on our journey, is able to burst our bubble, the freedom that comes from turning up for ourselves with a viable target is unmatched.
Wishing you all the best for your start to the week and thanks again for the comment,
You have no idea how happy it makes me to hear you talk about my beloved Daddy. He was an incredible man and taught me so much. That video is something else isn’t it ?! Funnily enough I was only yesterday looking at The Body Keeps the Score as it’s been over 10 years since I picked it up. And Gabor .. well … much to say about this wonderful man too . If you have 30 mins you may like this interview we did together . https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-conversation-with-amanda-de-cadenet/id1514866495?i=1000586059559
I feel like you and I would have much to talk about too ..
thank you for the work you are doing . Much needed perspective you are sharing .
Pleased to hear the reminder brings up fond memories and good feelings :)
I've found the ep on spotify and will definitely give it a listen on a walk this week. Gabor is fascinating, rare that a person can give completely different insights every time he is interviewed - shows the depths to his convictions. Looking forward to see what you drew out.
Would love to talk further, writing my own book at present, perhaps we can do so on a podcast ep towards the end of year when that gets closer to finishing up if you've got capacity. I'll make a note to touch base
I know this week is a bit longer, so for those who made it all the way through... respect! Wishing you all a great weekend.
Cheers, Jas.
